pH Balance 101

Do you know the importance of maintaining a healthy pH balance in your body? pH (referring to power of hydrogen) is the measure of the hydrogen ion concentration in our bodies; if our blood cannot absorb enough oxygen, we get sick. The pH scale ranges from 1-14 with 7 considered neutral. Levels less than 7 are said to be acidic, and levels greater than 7 are considered alkaline (also referred to as basic).

Alkaline green cold-pressed juice not only hydrates each and every cell in our bodies, but infuses our blood stream with revitalizing and energizing nutrients throughout the day. So, if you’re ready to experience sustainable energy, glowing skin and a better mood… read on.

Acidic Western Diet

Experts say our ideal pH should be 7.30 – 7.45 although most people today suffer from problems caused by acidic levels. Unfortunately, the typical Western diet is loaded with acid-forming foods (such as sugar, dairy, white breads, cocoa) as well as stimulants (such as tobacco, coffee and alcohol) contributing to poor digestion and illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, arthritis and diabetes. If you’re experiencing symptoms like low energy, aches and pains, mood swings, anxiety, inflammation, insomnia or being overweight, you may be in an acid state. Thankfully, this can be reversed by eating and drinking more alkaline foods.

pH Balance 101Get Alkaline – Get Healthy

The right alkaline balance is critical to health. When our blood has an alkaline pH instead of an acidic pH, our body’s system functions: brain, circulatory system, nerves, muscles, respiratory system, digestive system and reproductive system will all benefit. Simply stated: eat less sugar, animal protein, toxic fats (like transfats) and grains and more green leafy vegetables, green juice, cucumber, wheat grass, spirulina, broccoli, cayenne, avocados and coconut water. All natural, raw, vegetable and fruit juices are also alkaline-producing.

Testing pH Levels

Testing your pH levels is a fairly simple process; you can easily purchase a pack of pH test strips at your local drugstore or online and perform the test at home. It’s a good idea to test your pH levels before embarking on a juice cleanse or lifestyle change. This allows you to monitor your progress when you’re ready for a retest.

Alkalizing Green Juice

Remember, in addition to the foods you eat, stress can also have an effect on your pH levels. A carefully balanced pH state is one of the best ways to avoid illness. A green juice a day along with a daily meditation practice is a supportive way to get your body and mind back to neutral.

LizzyJays Fresh Cold-Pressed Goodness

Alkalizing Green JuiceAll of Lizzy Jays juices are cold-pressurized (meaning heat is never used) to give you maximum raw, liquid nutrition. Once it’s bottled up, LizzyJays juice goes through a cold, water-pressure method called High Pressure Processing (HPP). HPP uses extremely high water pressure (pressure roughly enough to equal the water pressure at the bottom of the deepest part of the ocean) to kill the most dangerous foodborne bacteria that can cause illnesses. But because HPP does not use high temperatures, the taste, color, texture and nutritional values of the juice is preserved. This processes ensures that our juices are safe to drink (pathogens are removed) without losing any vitamins, minerals or live enzymes.
