3 Ways to Rebalance after Overindulging! by Chara Rodriguera

We’ve all done it…and we’ll probably continue to do it now and then…


It’s my birthday month, and I must admit that I’ve been enjoying some indulging… decadent dinners at great restaurants, amazing wine at Veritas Vinyard in VA, buttermilk biscuit breakfast sandwiches, homemade lavender sugar cookies…Yum! Yum! Yum!

I loved every minute of it and I don’t regret it. However, now I’m ready to rebalance! So I want to share 3 things I’ll be doing over the next few weeks.

  1. Let go of guilt by being grateful. Don’t waste time regretting your decisions or beating yourself up for indulging. Appreciate that you live an abundant life with lots of amazing tastes, flavors and delights. One of the gifts of being human is celebrating the deliciousness of life. Living in the low, heavy energy of guilt is a waste of precious time and energy and it makes it harder to accomplish your goals. Be thankful for all that you are and all that you have and lovingly get back on track!
  2. Mindfully move. Notice I didn’t say exercise.  After overindulging, our tendency is to beat ourselves up with diets and excessive exercise. This just sets us up for feeling deprived and punished, which of course leads to more overindulging. While there is nothing wrong with exercise, it’s the intention and underlying motivation that’s most important. When you mindfully and lovingly move in ways that feel supportive, you will feel happy. Walk, swim, dance, stretch, do Yoga or hit the gym. Just make sure if feels like a YES, allows you to be present and makes you feel good. Happiness, love and gratitude produce an energetic vibration that is more conducive to health, weight management, wellbeing and success.
  3. Nourish. Instead of cutting things out and depriving yourself, make the intention to nourish yourself.
